How Can tingling And Numbness In The Arm Be Treated?
last night i woke up to use restroom. As a lay back down i reached over to my left side to get my medication bag on the floor. Suddenly i felt numbness on my right arm. I lay back down again and quickly it the numbness spread to my left arm and then they cramped up and began to burn and stiffen and I couldnt move th. My lips tigled up lihtened and face began tingling and from my knees down to my feet got numb and feet cramped like my hands with burning pain. My speach was slurred because my lips were so tight I couldnt speak very well. Went to er and diagnosed with distonic drug reaction. They gave me benadryl and valium. It took over an hour for me to get back to normal after meds given. From what I uderstand this condition may be caused by anti psychotic meds. I take paxil and clonazepam and have been on these meds for about 2 to 3 years and have never experienced this before. Only new medication I was put on last week was cefdinir and had to change due to colitis and then given augmentin. right now Im having a little trouble breathing and feel very nauseous. any advice would greatly be appreciated. I am a 49 yr old female. Esmeralda Catacora
The symptoms you have described can be a side-effect of the medicines you are taking but it is also possible that it can be an indication of a more serious condition.
I would advise you to get yourself checked by a neurosurgeon as soon as possible to rule out any neurological conditions like stroke.
He will do a proper neurological examination and may also advise an MRI.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
